{13 hours}: and all natural

I can't believe how well Sawyer did today! We had to go to SLC this morning for an appointment with a neurologist. It was an evaluation to see if he needed a helmet...he didn't by the way. But back to that later. We left T at Grandma's house last night so that we could get an early start since the appointment was at 12:30. So we left the house at 7 am. Sawyer slept for about 1.5 hours and when he woke up he just played and played. We hit the road back home at 3 and he did the same! He was such a trooper!

Now to the appointment: like I said we met with a neurologist at Primary Children's Hospital. We've been a little worried about how flat Sawyer's head is. He's been sitting up lately and has been rolling everywhere for a while and we've noticed that it has gotten a little better but not so much. So when we met with the doctor we were ready for him to tell us that he needed a helmet. But instead he said that what will work the exact same way (in most cases) is to roll up a towel and turn him on his side and tuck it behind him. He explained that because people are listening to their pediatricion (forgive my lousy spelling) and putting their newborns on their backs more and more babies are having this problem. He said that most babies have until about 14 months before their heads have hardened. So if we make sure that Sawyer sleeps 4 days on one side and 3 on the other EVERY night for six weeks we will see a dramatic improvement.

So...after a long and oh so tireing day in the car we finally feel some peace knowing that we can fix Sawyer's head naturally! We just need to be religious about it to make sure that we can fix it the right way.
